Inspirational Stories
This story goes back to the days when we used to visit each ward of Hamidia Hospital, meeting patients personally, speaking to them, and offering whatever help we could.
One day, I noticed a young man lying unconscious in a corner of a ward. He had no attendant, no identification — just lying there helplessly. On inquiring, the doctor told me he had been found injured near the railway tracks, and no one knew who he was.
I requested the doctor to kindly begin his treatment. Just then, the young man regained consciousness briefly and murmured, "I am from Jhansi... my name is Sonu," before slipping back into unconsciousness.
While checking his pockets, we found a small slip with the name "Sonu Electricals, Jhansi" written on it. I immediately called a close friend in Jhansi from an influential family and asked her to find out about "Sonu Electricals."
Soon, she called back with urgency in her voice — “The son of the owner of Sonu Electricals, Sonu, has been missing for days. His family is desperate and searching for him.”Moments later, I received a phone call from his parents. With tears in their voices, they said:
"Please look after our son. We’re on our way."
They came to Bhopal, took Sonu to a better hospital. They later told me that Sonu had argued with his father, boarded a train without a ticket, and the TTE (ticket checker) had allegedly pushed him off a moving train.
Time passed.
About a year later, at 9 p.m., my doorbell rang. My house help informed me that three young men from Jhansi were at the door, holding a box of sweets.
When I went out to meet them, I could not recognize anyone.
One of them stepped forward and said:
“Madam, I’m Sonu… from Jhansi… you gave me a new life.”
He then bent down and touched my feet.
He continued:
“I’m getting married. In our tradition, the first wedding invitation goes to Lord Ganesha. But I’ve come to give it to you — because to me, you are God.”
Tears welled up in my eyes. I said gently,
“I will try my best to come.”
Although I could not attend the wedding, that moment became a deeply emotional memory — one I will never forget. We stayed in touch for many days there after.

Prerna Seva Trust: A Place of Peace and Soulful FulfillmentNearly 28 years ago, when Prerna Seva Trust was just beginning its journey of service, my respected Papa Ji, Shri Dayal Singh Saluja Ji, personally took me there and said—
"We want to start this work of selfless service."
From that very day, I made a silent promise to myself—
As long as God gives strength to these hands and feet, I will never let go of this sacred place.Over the years, I have had many touching experiences, but one of them remains deeply etched in my heart. There was a little boy—so sweet and innocent—suffering from bone cancer. The doctors had given up hope.
Whenever I visited the hospital ward, his face would light up and he would say—
"My mummy ji has come!"
He grew very attached to me, and I to him.
I used to cook his favorite food at home and bring it to him. He would eat with such joy.
This continued for almost two years.
Then one day, that little angel left this world.Even today, his mother and sister come to meet me.
This, to me, is the true essence of humanity and love. There are countless such moments that are difficult to express in words.I humbly request all of you—
**Come, join us in this noble mission
